General nursing (undergraduate studies, 4 Years)
Launched in 2018, General nursing study program has the mission to train nurses with higher education, which will contribute to universal health coverage and enhanced health promotion, disease prevention, patient treatment, and rehabilitation services.
The first year is based primarily on the study of fundamental disciplines, such as anatomy, biology, biochemistry, basic nursing. Clinical disciplines are introduced in the following years. Students will gain the necessary experience by using modern teaching-learning methods at courses, seminars, laboratory classes, combining individual and group work. An advantage of this program is that students benefit from practical internships in health institutions, theoretical training is carried out in a balanced manner and is coordinated with the clinical activity.
Graduates will obtain a bachelor's degree in nursing, with theoretical knowledge of basic and social sciences, as well as clinical proficiency in general medicine and other medical specialties: general surgery and surgical specialties, child care and pediatrics, maternal and newborn healthcare and hygiene; mental health and psychiatry, care for the elderly and geriatrics, home care, etc. A nurse will know more about the underlying sciences of healthcare; will learn enough data about the structure of the human body, about physiological functions and behaviors in various normal and pathological conditions, and about the relationship between health and physical and social environment. He/she will be able to develop an individual plan of care in various pathological situations, to perform therapeutic procedures and to apply the procedures prescribed by doctors within the limits of competence, including emergency medical care.
Nursing graduates will be prepared and authorized to engage in the general field of health care practice, as well as in health promotion, disease prevention and care for the sick and disabled of all ages, to participate as a full members of any prophylaxis and health education team, to supervise and train nurses and to conduct scientific research.
