INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION

One of the priority areas for the strategic development of ”Nicolae Testemitanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova (”Nicolae Testemitanu” University) is the international collaboration, including the internationalization of the teaching and research process. This contributes to the integration of the University in the European and world education systems, the development of the mobility programs for students, resident doctors and academic staff members, the implementation of new methods of training, scientific research, diagnosis and treatment. However, to realise all these ideas, certain grants for financing various scientific, training and institutional development projects are needed.

In 2005, Faculty of Medicine No. 1 of ”Nicolae Testemitanu” University was evaluated by the external commission of the Council of the International Conference of Deans of the Medical Faculties of French Expression, on a visit to our institution, with the purpose of validating the results of institutional self-evaluation. One of the foreign experts’ recommendations is the continuing professional development of the Faculty's academic staff.

In June 2019, ”Nicolae Testemitanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova obtained the status of an internationally accredited institution by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), which constitutes one of the objectives of the 2011-2020 Development Strategy of the institution.

In the current socio-economic conditions, the development of an international collaboration in various fields has become imperative in order to reduce the gap between ”Nicolae Testemitanu” University and other medical institutions in Western Europe and the USA. This will ultimately contribute to improving higher medical education and aligning it with international standards.

The university has cooperation relations with a series of internal and external partners, which contributes to the development of the educational process in terms of improving teaching quality, student training programs and even the material resources of laboratories. In order to train medical and pharmaceutical staff, develop medical science and practice, the University collaborates with over 70 foreign medical education institutions, including faculties, clinics and libraries in more than 20 countries: Romania, Ukraine, France, Belgium, Greece, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, the Russian Federation, Poland, Turkey, Belarus, Italy, Germany, the USA, Jordan, Switzerland, Morocco, Latvia, Georgia, Japan, Lithuania, etc.

Every year, about 300 people from ”Nicolae Testemitanu” University are delegated to participate in various scientific forums, to conduct internships and scientific studies, to familiarize themselves with new technologies and the ways to implement them. Students, resident doctors, doctoral students and teaching staff members benefit from academic mobility, gaining experience under joint projects.
