The Medicine study program has the mission to organize higher medical education and to support scientific research in accordance with contemporary requirements and achievements in the professional field, in order to train highly qualified specialists in Medicine.
The study program focuses not only on the transmission of knowledge but also on skills training. The training of I-III year students is carried out at the University departments that are equipped with modern devices, offering possibilities for applying experimental medicine and virtual study techniques. Anatomy classes, held at the Museum of Human Anatomy with over 2,500 anatomical specimens on display on a total area of 400 m2, are particularly captivating. The training focuses on both the transmission of knowledge and the formation of communication skills with patients, including at the University Centre for Simulation in Medical Training.
For the III-VI year students, practical lessons take place at the university clinical bases throughout the capital, located at municipal and republican hospitals, in various medical-sanitary and scientific research institutions. While studying, medical students use high-performance equipment and apply modern information technologies, which facilitates the process of training and medical research.
Practical internships, organized in local and foreign hospitals, constitute an indispensable component of medical education.
The knowledge assessment system at the promotion exams consists of three stages: the practical part, the exam by control test and the oral interview.
After graduating from the Program, young people move on to the next stage of their professional training - residency studies, conducted in one of the specialties selected through competition: surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, etc. Subsequently, young specialists will work as clinicians in various medical institutions of the country.
